Diamondback Engineering

Diamondback Electrical was founded by Joel Kruzel, PE, motivated by a desire to provide top-notch service for every commercial project. With over 25 years of service in the engineering industry, Joel has a unique perspective on the development of the DC area codes and the evolution of commercial lighting and power.

When I first saw the old switchgear at Lockheed Martin, I had to think creatively to make sure the new one would fit and keep the building running at all scheduled times.

Not every engineer has the patience to triple check parts and cuts to ensure a smooth construction–nor is that type of detail always required. It takes a seasoned engineer to know when to sweat the details. (over-detailing can be costly, too).

Mr. Kruzel has provided electrical design on just about every type of commercial building. From tenant fit-outs, multi-family, mission-critical, laboratory, hospitality, and co-generation, he understands the power needs from an installer’s perspective, and the lighting effects from the owner’s perspective. And the experience of working for some of the biggest regional firms has provided an unparalleled overview of the very best practices and standards in the industry.

Diamondback was created as a means of focusing design service to all aspects of the client’s needs–aesthetics, cost, and building lifecycle. Over the years Joel has provided solutions that are uniquely tailored to each project, a ‘just right’ approach that brings back repeat customers and earns the respect of owners and contractors alike.
